Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Puente, a real-time AI voice translation application ("App") operated by Puente ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Houston, Texas. By downloading or using Puente, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Service Description

Puente is an iOS application that provides real-time AI-powered voice translation across 109 languages. The App includes a free tier and optional paid features. Puente is designed for personal, professional, and organizational communication across language barriers.

Puente does not require an account, email address, or any personal registration. You may use the App anonymously from the moment of download.

2. Free Tier and Paid Features

The free tier provides 5 AI-powered translations per day at no charge, with no subscription required.

Paid features include:

• Day Pass: Unlimited translations for a 24-hour period from the time of purchase. Day passes expire after 24 hours and are non-refundable once activated.
• Lifetime Access: A one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited translations permanently. No recurring charges.
• Org Plan: Bulk activation codes for teams and organizations. Contact support@puente.chat for pricing.

All in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Puente receives only a purchase confirmation and does not handle or store your payment information.

3. Refunds and Cancellations

All purchases made through Puente are one-time transactions — there are no subscriptions to cancel.

Day passes expire 24 hours after activation and are not eligible for refund once the activation period has begun.

Lifetime access purchases are generally non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact Apple Support directly, as all refunds are processed through the App Store.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Puente only for lawful purposes. You may not:

• Use the App to facilitate any illegal activity or to violate any person's rights
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App
• Use automated systems or bots to access or interact with the App
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers, networks, or infrastructure
• Resell or redistribute access to paid features without authorization

We reserve the right to suspend access to the App for any user or device found to be in violation of these Terms.

5. Professional, Medical, and Legal Use

Puente is a general-purpose translation tool and is provided as-is. While it is designed for accuracy and speed, AI translation systems can make errors.

For critical proceedings — including medical diagnoses, legal depositions, court hearings, immigration proceedings, or any situation where mistranslation could cause harm — we strongly recommend using a certified human interpreter. Puente can be a helpful complement to professional interpretation but should not replace it in high-stakes contexts.

Puente is HIPAA-aligned and Title VI compliant by design, but compliance with specific regulatory requirements remains the responsibility of the using organization.

6. Privacy and Data

Puente does not collect accounts, user profiles, or personal identifiers. Translation audio is processed in real time and immediately discarded — it is not stored on our servers or used for training.

For the 8 offline languages, all processing occurs on-device via Whisper AI. No data leaves your phone.

Our full data practices are described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, and technology in the App are owned by or licensed to Puente. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or other proprietary information without prior written permission.

Translations generated by the App are provided for your use. You retain any rights in the original content you input.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that translations will be completely accurate. Use of translation results in professional or safety-critical contexts is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PUENTE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific feature giving rise to the claim in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or on our website. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of Harris County, Texas.
