Puente means "bridge" in Spanish. We built it because language barriers aren't just inconvenient — they break trust, slow care, and cost people real things.
Why we built this
Houston is the most linguistically diverse city in America. Walk into a Harris Health clinic, a Houston ISD school, a construction site, or a restaurant and you'll hear dozens of languages within an hour. Yet the tools available for real-time conversation translation were either clunky, subscription-locked, or just didn't work well enough for high-stakes moments.
We wanted translation that works like a real conversation: both people speaking naturally, each hearing their own language, with the emotional texture intact. Not a tool that interrupts the moment — one that disappears into it.
